Being a South Carolina state employee comes with more than just great benefits--it also comes with great savings. Beginning January 1, 2026, deferred compensation plans, such as 403(b), 401(k), and 457 plans that offer age-based catch-up contributions, will be required to apply new Roth rules for certain participants.

The IRS has increased the 2026 Medical Spending Account (MSA) and Limited-use MSA contribution limit from $3,300 to $3,400, and the carryover limit from $660 to $680.
